ManageEngine, a leading provider of cost-effective enterprise IT management software, has announced that Firewall Analyzer, the company’s firewall log analysis software, will now support logs from virtual firewalls present in the Cisco, FortiGate and Check Point devices.
Enterprises and MSPs increasingly rely on hosted, multi-tenant environments to deliver business services. In these instances, virtual firewalls are deployed to ensure security and privacy for end users and customers, without the inconvenience of unnecessary hardware. Designed for SMB, enterprise and MSP organizations, Firewall Analyzer is a web-based tool for configuration analysis, change management, security audit of firewall devices, bandwidth monitoring and security reporting. At a glance, Firewall Analyzer offers the following functionality: multiple device/vendor support, MSSP support, real-time alerting, flexible log archiving, capability to view traffic trends and usage patterns, multi-level drill down into top hosts, protocols, web sites and more, VPN reports, and multi-varied reporting capabilities.
Compatible with almost all commercial and open source firewalls, the software analyzes firewall device configurations, manages the configuration changes, and audits device security. Firewall Analyzer also collects, analyzes and archives logs from network perimeter security devices, and generates reports. Supported devices include firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), proxy servers and virtual private networks (VPNs).
With no special configuration required, Firewall Analyzer now supports logs from virtual firewalls. The software application automatically recognizes the logs originating from the virtual firewalls and each virtual firewall is treated as a separate device, with reports and alerts also generated separately. The new virtual firewall support is ideally suited for enterprises and MSPs that run multi-vendor, multi-tenant environments and need to offer virtual firewall services for each of the vendors exclusively. To ensure privacy requirements, Firewall Analyzer supports user-based client views that empower MSPs with client-specific firewall reports and alerts. Virtual firewalls provide the same level of security as their physical counterparts, the only difference being that several virtual firewalls can be hosted by one physical device.
“Our customers are facing an increasing need for managing vendor-agnostic virtualized environments. To best support these requirements, we have extended the capability of Firewall Analyzer to monitor, analyze and report not only on physical firewalls but also for firewalls in virtualized environments,” said Pravin Kumar, Product Manager for ManageEngine Firewall Analyzer.
