OpenDNS more than Doubles MSP Roster
OpenDNS, the world’s largest internet-wide security network, has announced that the number of MSPs participating in OpenDNS for MSPs has more than doubled since the beginning of the year.
OpenDNS is the leading provider of unique security devices that use its DNS platform and intelligence to protect organizations from malware, botnets, phishing and other undesirable traffic, and to filter internet content to keep employees safe. As of May 2012, tens of thousands of companies and educational institutions, including many Fortune 100 enterprises, have placed reliance on OpenDNS to ensure their internet safety. OpenDNS attributes the success of the program simply to the easy deployment and manageability of the security service.
According to Gartner, the market for security services managed by IT organizations is forecasted to expand to around $14.9 billion by 2015. OpenDNS therefore views partnerships with MSPs as critical to its growth strategy. In accordance with this strategy, OpenDNS has also announced plans to invest resources in OpenDNS for MSPs and to deliver new MSP-specific functionality that will enhance client offerings. Increasing demand for security devices to protect WiFi networks resulted in the OpenDNS Global Alliances team receiving interest from 97 countries in 2012 alone. OpenDNS uniquely secures all devices connecting to a WiFi network, without the requirement of any on-device software.
“We’ve seen an 80 percent decrease in malware on the networks that are using OpenDNS Enterprise,” said Gray Mabry, CEO of iVenture, a leading MSP participating in the OpenDNS partner program. “Our clients’ uptime means everything to us, and OpenDNS Enterprise helps us make sure no time or devices are lost to crippling malware infections.”
The OpenDNS MSP portal enables MSPs by providing a central, web-based console to manage and control customers’ networks, with the option to delegate self-management to the client. As a cloud-based service, OpenDNS Enterprise allows MSPs to lower their overhead costs and reduce the amount of time spent at client locations, while increasing customer satisfaction.
OpenDNS for MSPs also enables authorized IT solutions organizations to sell and manage OpenDNS Enterprise services for their clients. Empowered through marketing, sales support and co-branding opportunities, participating MSPs increase their opportunities as sales volume grow.
